Welcome to the The Richard Hunferford School's Unofficial UFT Website
This site has been created to better service the members of The Hungerford
School and its seven offsites. It is intended to be a one stop site that answers your questions, provides you with
the needed form, rule or regulation, or simply gives you a way to communicate with our chapter and union.
As your Chapter Leader, I represent teachers and classroom paraprofessionals,
along with school secretaries, physical / occupational therapists, guidance counselors, psychologists, social workers, and
nurses.
It is my goal and continues to be my goal, to
make The Hungerford School and its offsites, the place where parents want to send their children and where educators want
to work. Together we can continue to make it happen.
Feel free to contact me at UFT721r@yahoo.com with any questions, concerns or thoughts .

Members to seek union representation in any interrogation
Please remember that if you are summoned for an interview by the principal or another DOE
employee that may lead to disciplinary action, they are entitled to be accompanied by a union representative (or a representative
employed by the school system). Aside from the principal, the Chancellor’s Office of Special Investigations (OSI) and
the Special Commissioner of Investigation (SCI) regularly seek to interview educators. Sometimes, the Chancellor’s
Office of Personnel Investigations (OPI) or Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) will ask a member for a statement and, occasionally,
even the police will go to a school. Regardless of who has summoned you to appear, the UFT generally recommends that
you not answer any questions that could lead to disciplinary or legal action being taken without proper representation. If
members are summoned to OSI, OPI or OEO, they should immediately ask you as the chapter leader to contact your district representative
or borough office so that they can provide a representative to attend the interview with them. If a member is summoned by
the Special Commissioner of Investigations, your DR or borough office will arrange for a criminal attorney to attend the interview
with the member. If OPI asks for a written statement, your DR or borough office will arrange for an attorney to assist
the member in writing it.
